PHRYGIA. Apameia. Circa 166-133 BC. Cistophorus (Silver, 28 mm, 12.38 g, 1 h), circa 150-140. Cista mystica from which snake coils; all within wreath of ivy and fruit. Rev. Two snakes coiled around a bow case; in field to left, monogram of AΠ; to right, head of an elephant to right. HGC 7, 655. Kleiner & Noe Series 23. Pinder 69. SNG Copenhagen 147. SNG von Aulock 3450. Beautifully toned and with a particularly sharp reverse. The obverse a bit weak and with light porosity on the reverse, otherwise, about extremely fine.
